It all began in Juneau, Alaska in 2008 when Dan Pollak answered an ad on Craigslist
for musicians and met Leta Simons. Seventeen years later they are still making music
together. Leta and Dan formed the original Silver City in the D.C. area in 2010,
entertaining audiences there for ten years.  Moving to Folsom in 2021, they picked up
right where they left off, recruiting some of the area’s best musicians for the California
version of the band.

Leta Simons (guitar, vocals): Leta’s mother was a coal miner’s daughter from Virginia,
and bluegrass and country music dominated the radio, record player and TV at home.
When Leta was twelve her mother pulled out an old guitar from the closet and
strummed a few chords. Leta took it from there and has been singing and playing
music ever since as a solo artist and in country, bluegrass, and Americana bands. She
honed her songwriting skills in Nashville where she was a featured singer/songwriter at
writer’s nights in the round, sharing the stage with well-known country lyricists.

Dan Pollak (bass, vocals): Dan began his musical career in the Bay Area playing
saxophone in various jazz ensembles and R&B bands. His love of bluegrass and roots
music later inspired him to take up the upright bass. Since then he has played with
singer/songwriter Mary Battiata, alt-country artist Charles Walston, and the D.C. area
gypsy jazz group Djangolaya. In addition to Silver City, he can currently be seen
in the Sacramento area playing bass with bluegrass band Deltagrass.

Silver City regularly features Dave Corina on mandolin and Giorgi Khokhobashvili on
fiddle. Dave has a wealth of experience playing bluegrass and country music in
California and Washington state bands, and previously toured with the Sacramento-area
band Whiskey Dawn. Giorgi is a sought-after musician who plays with Jessica Malone
Band, Sky Kings, Jazz Gitan and Peter Petty Orchestra, and teaches violin. Dave and
Giorgi write their own compositions as well, and a Silver City set often includes their
original instrumentals.
